Prophetic Word: Spiritual Masting – Acorns Dropping

For the last week or so acorns have been dropping like wild in my part of the country (New York). I felt from the Spirit there was something prophetic in this mass dropping. So I did a little searching into what causes this phenomenon.

Turns out it is called “masting.” According to mast-producing-trees..org masting “refers to the synchronous production of large numbers of seeds or fruit by a population of plants.” Experts are not sure exactly why or how this synchronous production takes place. It happens every 4-5 years.

But as I was reading that description the Holy Spirit began speaking to me there is a spiritual masting taking place in the church. God is synchronizing our hearts. The dropping of the acorns represents the dropping of the Word. Many in the church have the Word of God hidden and haven’t dropped it.

IT IS TIME TO DROP THE WORD

This is a critical time we live in. We must allow the Lord to knit our hearts in love, causing us to synchronize in the Spirit. God can really do something in and through the church that is in unity.

Rescued from Darkness – Transferred to Light

By Roderick Breem

At the very end of Paul’s beautiful prayer for the church at Colosse He makes this bold and liberating statement. “He has delivered us from the power of darkness and conveyed us into the kingdom of the Son of His love.” (1:13)

The Passion Translation: “He has rescued us completely from the tyrannical rule of darkness and has translated us into the kingdom realm of his beloved Son.”

The Greek word for “delivered” is rhyomai and means “to draw to one’s self, to rescue, to deliver.” Rescue is a very good translation. Out of His great love for us He has drawn us to Himself, rescuing us from the power of darkness. That brings us to our next word: power.

In the Greek there are many words translated as power. Some like dunamis mean explosive power. But the word used here “… delivered us from the power of darkness” is the word exousia. It means authority. We get our word executive from that word. We have been rescued from the authority of the enemy. He no longer has a say in what we can and can’t do. We are no longer under his jurisdiction!

Lastly, we have been “translated into the kingdom of the Son of His love.” Think of the person who has been transferred from one job to another or from one post (think military) to another. We have been transferred from the authority of darkness to God’s loving kingdom. Notice how it says “the kingdom of the Son of His love.” This is not just a mere transfer of a person done by politicians with no emotion or fanfare. No, it is rather like the reuniting of two people when one had been kidnapped. The reuniting is full of joy and relief.

Father, we thank you for rescuing us! Thank you for delivering us from the authority of darkness and transferring us into the kingdom of Your Son’s love. Now, we ask you to rescue those in our circles who need rescuing. In Jesus’ name.

The Rulers of this Age are Being DETHRONED

The wonderful Passion Translation translates 1 Cor 2:6:

“However, there is a wisdom that we continually speak of when we are among the spiritually mature.[f] It’s wisdom that didn’t originate in this present age, nor did it come from the rulers of this age who are in the process of being dethroned.”

What does it mean to be dethroned? it means you ONCE ruled and now you don’t. Our family was talking yesterday how in the state of New York there is no term-limit for the office of Governor. Well I am here to tell you the term-limit of the enemy is up. It is time for him to be dethroned. Jesus died and rose again and is seated at the right hand of God. Where are we in this picture? Seated WITH Jesus.

“and raised us up together, and made us sit together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus.” (Eph 2:6)

The only room the enemy has to rule in our lives is the room we allow. Will you join me in dethroning the enemy from our lives? Let’s take another look at Psalm 2 in The Passion Translation:

The Coronation of the King

Act I – The Nations Speak

2 How dare the nations plan a rebellion.

Their foolish plots are futile![a]

2 Look at how the power brokers of the world

rise up to hold their summit

as the rulers scheme and confer together

against Yahweh and his Anointed King, saying:

3 “Let’s come together and break away from the Creator.

Once and for all let’s cast off these controlling chains

of God and his Christ!”[b]

Act II – God Speaks

4 God-Enthroned[c] merely laughs at them;

the Sovereign One mocks their madness!

5 Then with the fierceness of his fiery anger

he settles the issue[d] and terrifies them to death[e] with these words:

6 “I myself have poured out my King on Zion,[f] my holy mountain.[g]

Act III – The Son Speaks

7 “I will reveal the eternal purpose of God.

For he has decreed over me, ‘You are my favored Son.

And as your Father I have crowned you as my King Eternal.

Today I became your Father.

8 Ask me[h] to give you the nations and I will do it,

and they shall become your legacy.

Your domain will stretch to the ends of the earth.

9 And you will shepherd them[i] with unlimited authority,

crushing their rebellion as an iron rod smashes jars of clay!’ ”

Act IV – The Holy Spirit Speaks

10 Listen to me, all you rebel-kings

and all you upstart judges of the earth.

Learn your lesson[j] while there’s still time.

11 Serve and worship the awe-inspiring God.

Recognize his greatness and bow before him,

trembling with reverence in his presence.[k]

12 Fall facedown before him and kiss the Son[l]

before his anger is roused against you.

Remember that his wrath can be quickly kindled!

But many blessings are waiting for all

who turn aside to hide themselves in him!

God is enthroned and we are seated with Him. Will you evict the enemy who has squatted where he doesn’t belong?

Jesus, we thank you for dying and that we are seated with You. We evict the enemy from the throne of our lives. There simply isn’t room for him. We go higher and higher in the Spirit. In Jesus’ name.

The Path that Upends

Roderick Breem

In Ephesians 1 the Apostle Paul reveals the many great positional truths about the believer. They are not the focus of this teaching but I encourage you to read it. In Chapter 2 it starts off:

And you He made alive, who were dead in trespasses and sins.” (v.1) That’s good news. He continues to remind them of where they used to be.

in which you once walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit who now works in the sons of disobedience.” (v.2)

I like how Paul used the word “walked.” It gives us the visual of a person walking along a road. Let’s imagine it is a dirt road. Now, the person is walking according to the “course of this world” and of the  “prince of the power” of the air. Let’s imagine further that those two things (course of the world and prince of the power of the air) are signs on the road to be followed. When we set directions in our GPS it is “according” to the address we put it.

Those who walk according to those things are empowered by an evil force. “…the spirit who now works in the sons of disobedience.” The Greek word for “works” is energeō, meaning “to be operative, be at work, put forth power.” It is a force operating from within. It can be likened to the engine in a car, working on the inside to propel.

Paul continues in verse 3

among whom also we all once conducted ourselves in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, just as the others.”

The Greek word for “conducted” is interesting. It is an intimate word and comes from 2 Greek words – ana, meaning “into the midst” and strephō, meaning “to turn, turn around.”

Going back to our illustration about the person walking on the road. The person is walking along God’s road and then before they know it they are following the wrong signs (according to the Prince). Then another person enters the same road, gets in their face and persuades them to turn around from God’s path.

The end result of allowing ourselves to be turned around and away from God’s way is “…and were by nature children of wrath, just as the others..” If we walk that wrong path and allow ourselves to be walk on the path of the enemy we will once again become children of wrath. This is not meant to discourage or dissuade you. It is a holy reminder to ever stay near to God on His path. The enemy hates you passionately but God’s love is infinitely more passionate!

Let’s end this with a ray of hope. Verse 4 says “But God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us.” Read on for yourself what the “but God’s” are. They are powerful and liberating.

A Tale of Two Mindsets

By Roderick Breem

In 2 Peter the Apostle Peter is exhorting believers not to be discouraged that the Lord hadn’t returned yet. They had no idea it wouldn’t be in their lifetime. In Chapter 3 he starts off by saying:

Beloved, I now write to you this second epistle (in both of which I stir up your pure minds by way of reminder).” (v.1)

The Greek word for “stir” there is fascinating. It is diegeirō, meaning “A. to wake up, awaken, arouse (from sleep), B. of the sea, which begins to be agitated, to rise.” Peter is saying he is awakening and arousing their pure minds by way of reminder. A reminder of what? Let’s find out.

Paul continues: “that you may be mindful of the words which were spoken before by the holy prophets, and of the commandment of [a]us, the apostles of the Lord and Savior, knowing this first: that scoffers will come in the last days, walking according to their own lusts, and saying, ‘Where is the promise of His coming? For since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of creation.’” (vv. 2-4)

Notice how he said “that you be mindful…” Notice the words so far that deal with the mind. He said he was stirring up their “pure minds” and now he is exhorting them “to be mindful” of the words of the prophets. They had to have their pure minds stirred and to be mindful because some were casting doubt saying “Where is the promise of His coming?”

Peter continues and makes a distinction between those with godly and ungodly mindsets. “For this they willfully forget: that by the word of God the heavens were of old, and the earth standing out of water and in the water.” (v.5)

They willfully forget.” In other words, they deliberately close their eyes. They block their ears from hearing. Do you see the distinction between the two mindsets? The first has a pure mind that is stirred and awakened by the reminder of God’s promise. The second willfully forget the promise of God.

Now, those that willfully forget become what Peter called “scoffers.” The modern translation would be mockers. Since they deliberately closed their spiritual eyes and ears they now despise those that continue to hold on to the promises of God.

Which mindset do you see yourself as? When you hear the promise of God are you stirred and awakened? Or do you mock on the inside or even through your words?

Father, we want to completely be in the camp of those who are stirred and awakened by your promises. Root out in us anything that causes us to willfully forget Your promises. In Jesus’ name.

Girding Up the Loins of Your Mind

Subtitle: Resting Hope on the Revelation of Jesus

By Roderick Breem

In 1 Peter 1:1-12 the Apostle Peter talks in length about the spiritual inheritance of his audience. This is for us as well. Familiarize yourself with those passages before reading this short article. To summarize, he talks about their inheritance that is incorruptible, the testing of their faith through trials, and the revealing of Jesus to us in the last days. All incredibly powerful and awesome things.

As a response to those things Pater says: “Therefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and rest your hope fully upon the grace that is to be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ.” (v.13)

The term “gird up the loins of your mind” may seem foreign to most of us. But the Strong’s Concordance offers some help to us.

It is “a metaphor derived from the practice of the Orientals, who in order to be unimpeded in their movements were accustomed, when starting a journey or engaging in any work, to bind their long flowing garments closely around their bodies and fastened them with a leather belt.”

The Passion Translation simply translates the first portion as “So then, prepare your hearts and minds for action!”

Again, we see the crucial role our mind plays. Peter is saying “Listen, you have an incredible inheritance. Jesus will be increasingly revealed to you. But you must take control of your mind. You must discipline your thoughts, focusing them on the firm hope (expectation) at the revealing of Jesus.”

Listen friends, we live in troubling times. And things may get worse for many of us. But we cannot allow our minds to be highjacked by the trials and unknowing. They seek to be like a runaway train that cannot be stopped until it crashes and burns. No, we have the mind of Christ. We will set our hope completely on Jesus.

I like how the King James translates this verse: “Wherefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and hope to the end for the grace that is to be brought unto you at the revelation of Jesus Christ. ” Notice the translation: “…and hope to the end.” The Greek word for “to the end” is teleiōs, meanng “perfectly, completely.” We place our hope in nothing else other than the revelation of Jesus Christ to us personally and corporately.

There are MANY things we do not know. But we do not set our focus on those things. We gird up the loins our mind, looking for and asking for the revelation of Jesus Christ.

From Old to New – An Inward Response

By Roderick Breem

Starting at verse 7 in Hebrews 8 the Apostle Paul talks about the weaknesses of the Old Covenant and the need for the New Covenant. I believe many are confused and still living under the Old set of rules.

Paul says: “For if that first covenant had been faultless, then should no place have been sought for the second.” (v.7)

Then he pointed out one of the major flaws of the Old Covenant: it didn’t produce devotion. There was no inward change.”

It will be an entirely different covenant than the one I made with their fathers when I led them by my hand out of Egypt. For they did not remain faithful to my covenant, so I rejected them, says the Lord God.” (v.9, TPT)

God said the Israelites had to be “led…by hand out of Egypt.” In other words it wasn’t done from their heart. They had to be guided like an unwilling child. But thank God he had a better way of doing things. The answer would come trough the New Covenant because of what Jesus did.

Now, see the distinction. “For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, saith the Lord; I will put my laws into their mind, and write them in their hearts: and I will be to them a God, and they shall be to me a people.” (v.10)”I will put my laws into their mind, and write them in their hearts.” No longer will they (or us!) have to be held by the hand out of bondage.

Under the New Covenant we have the law (Word) in our minds and written in our hearts. So the change of our behavior is the result of an inward change not merely outward ordinance. Isn’t that liberating?

Now for the best and most profound part of this. “I will be their loyal God and they will be my loyal people. And the result of this will be that everyone will know me as Lord! There will be no need at all to teach their fellow-citizens or brothers by saying, ‘You should know the Lord Jehovah,’ since everyone will know me inwardly, from the most unlikely to the most distinguished. (v.11b-12, TPT)

Now, we see a relationship there is mutual loyalty out of love. The result is that everyone will know the Lord. This is possible through the person of the Holy Spirit. He leads us and guides us into all Truth. I love how the TPT translation says “…everyone will know me inwardly, from the most unlikely to the most distinguished.” Yes, we now know God inwardly and are not just simply being led by the hand.

So, if you feel yourself striving to be the perfect Christian you might just still be under the Old Covenant. Or if you feel weighed down by all the things you must do. Listen, Jesus said “Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am [a]gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.” (Matthew 11:29-30)Throw off the old yoke of legalism and take the yoke of Jesus. Its fits you better. You will see you countenance change and the light in your eyes return.

Winter is Over!

Prophetic word August 2020

This morning I was laying bed and the Holy Spirit began speaking to me from Song of Solomon. Starting in verse 10:

“My beloved spoke, and said to me:
“Rise up, my love, my fair one,
And come away.”

The beloved (Jesus) is speaking to us and it arise. Many in the church are in a depressed state. Depressed doesn’t only mean sad but it can be the person who has shrunk down spiritually, This depression can be the result of fear, anxiety or a number of things. Next the Beloved says:

For lo, the winter is past,
The rain is over and gone
.” (v.11)

The word from the TV series Game of Thrones is “Winter is Coming.” But I am here declaring that WINTER IS OVER. Winter represents barrenness, death, coldness. The Lord says the winter is over in your life. It is time to arise My church!

The Beloved continues:

The flowers appear on the earth;
The time of singing has come,
And the voice of the turtledove
Is heard in our land.
” (v.12)

The Beloved is calling the church to arise and see the flowers (goodness of God). “The time of singing has come” is a call to the active, remnant church back to the heart of worship.

And the voice of the turtledove is heard in our land.” The turtledove is a song bird and only sings at certain times, like heralding in the new season of Spring. The turtledove also represents the Holy Spirit. His voice is being heard in our land. His voice is also heard in the land through believers who rise up and be His voice.

I had a prophetic picture of the church in a dark, gloomy house. She was unaware that winter had past. The beloved is saying “Arise. Come see the fruit of the land. Come away with Me. Winter is over and its time to worship. It time to shine. The world needs you more than ever before.”
